"content": "<p><a href=\"https://aus.social/tags/introduction\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>introduction</span></a> <br />I have been here a while, but here goes.</p><p>I have had many hobbies, passions and topics of interest . I made a list a while ago of all the subjects I have explored over the years and it was more than forty.</p><p>My latest adventure is into <a href=\"https://aus.social/tags/physics\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>physics</span></a> <br />I have been working at the Australian Attosecond Science Facility at Griffith University for the past year. This is to get me up-to-speed for a PhD in experimental physics. I have been working to get a new femtosecond laser system ready and the beam distributed to various experiments. Next job is to replace a turbo vacuum pump on the Frustrated Tunnelling Ionisation apparatus (my main work), along with refitting a couple of pumps on the COLTRIMS apparatus. Then the experiments begin!</p><p>I expect over the next 3 to 5 years there will be a brief window or two where everything works correctly and I will have something to write about :D</p><p>My wife and I just celebrated 41 years of marriage.</p><p>I have also spent the past couple of years catching up on golf.</p><p>Ardent ACT Rugby fan, and still pulling the boots on once in a while for Old Blokes' stuff.</p><p>Edit: updated for a recent wedding anniverary and added a sport.</p>",
